Psalms 1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

In line one it describes the scenario of how one can be blessed. He is blessed because he does not hang with ungodly people. He should steer clear of sinners. He should stay on the path of the Lrd, not follow sinners. Line 2 says he gets his happiness through his love for the Lord. In line 3 he is compared to a tree by the river. The possible explanation for this is because a tree needs moisture to stay alive. Considering it's by the river, the tree (the man) will always have what it needs. Line 4 for tells one that the ungodly people are not righteous and would not be "a tree by the river". Line 5 goes to show how righteous and godly people will not be on the same pedestal as those who are ungodly. They will have two different outcomes on judgement day. Finally in line 6, the Lord knows who his righteous children are and their dedication towards him. He will protect them from all hurt and danger. However, his ungodly children will suffer. In conclusion this psalm describes the lifestyle of a righteous child of God and an ungodly child of God.
