Blog post assignment 6 : Two Kinds questions

1. Do parents ever pressure their children to achieve? Why do you think so? Yes I believe parents pressure their children to achieve. The reason behind this is because they want them to succeed so badly, they go to the extreme. Some parents may not mean try to pressure their kids; they may just want them to have a better life than they had.

2. What are some of the conflicts parents and children have? Some conflicts between parents and children may be money, curfews, and freedom. Wether a child wants to hear it or not, typically adults are more experienced and know more than what the child has yet to learn. With that being said, the child and the parent may have conflicts with listening and following what the child is told.

3. Do you feel people can be anything they want to be? Yes I feel a person can be anything they want to be. A person can become anything they want as long as they are willing to work hard enough to get it.

4. Do all conflicts have a winner? It honestly depends on the situation. One scenario is, a couple doesn't know what to eat. The male wants Chinese and the female wants Foosackly's. They compromised and decided to get Wendy's. Technically, no one won because they didn't get the exact food they really wanted. Another scenario is best friends get into an argument. One best friend decides to apologize and be the bigger person. In this case, the other best friend wins because she gets her way and is being apologized to.

5. Compare your relationship with your parents to Chinese children's relationship with their parents in China. My relationship with my mom is very casual. She has ground rules and expects a lot out of me. However, she is very kind and understanding. She only wants the best for me, and almost always supports all my decisions. She pushes me to make my dreams come true and to make the best out of myself. In China, it's a different story. Their parents decide their occupation. They are very strict and expect the world out of them. They are very controlling and what they say goes, no exceptions.
