Women during medieval times

The Middle Ages describes Europe between the fall of Rome in 467 CE and the beginning of the Renaissance in the 14th century. During this time women held the role of a wife, peasant, mother, and etc. Women were actually relied on heavily although they were not treated equally as men. Women usually did things such as care for the children, cook the food, and handle livestock. However, when the busiest times of the year came around, such as Harvest, the women joined the men in the field to help bring in crops. Women basically had no control over their life. They were told who to marry, where to work and how much they were going to get paid. In the subject of child birth, it is wished upon that the female will give birth to a male so he would be able to take over the land when his father died. Women were not treated properly and they still had to take care of themselves, the children, and their husband. Women during this time period had to be strong, especially the poor women.
