Dealing With The Fire On The PCT

In the article, Brendon Taylor talks about fires in the PCT. As of today, there are no solutions to completely stop fires. Fires can ruin hiking tails and other parts of the PCT community. Fires can start by plane crashes, lightning, careless hikers, and more. When a fire is left unchecked or is not completely put out, agencies can shut down the trail. Dana Hendricks and other officer are coming up with ideas to stop fires. They created a detour. When testing this idea out, the fire expanded into the detour. Therefore this was a fail. In conclusion, fire is a fact of life on the PCT and it is no cure for preventing fires at the moment.

An interesting fact: One fact I found interesting from the article is, one fire that occurred by a plane crash, burned 30,000 acres of the Techapi Trail.

General fact from the article: When a fire erupts on or near the PCT, the PCTA and the volunteers, jump to spread the word.

My personal question: Do officials and volunteers believe there will ever be a for sure way to stop fires?
