Blog post assignment 9 : a lesson before dying questions

Chapter 3

1. Pichot's insistence that Jefferson did it redirected the plot narrative by setting a different tone and showing a biased point of view.

2. Grant is implying that Miss.Emma is saying that he doesn't have to visit Jefferson however, she doesn't really mean this. Miss.Emma wants grant to be there.

3. The back door of Mr.Pichots plantation house symbolizes the past to Grant and his aunt. Having to enter this door rankles Grant because it brings back memories of when he was a servant.

4. Miss.Emma prevails on getting Mr.Pichot to speak to the sheriff by begging him. She constantly brings up all the kind acts she's done for his family trying to make him feel guilty.

Chapter 4

1. It echoes the fact that the defender wanted Jefferson to be guilty and to be kilt. Just like a hog would be in a slaughterhouse.

2. Grant wants to flee because he feels like he doesn't have control of his own life in this town. He is not fulfilling his duty on earth while living here. Grants girlfriend Vivian, is what's keeping him there.

Quotations

"But I could feel her eyes on the back of my neck"

This quote characterizes Grants aunt. It shows that she is the bossy type and believes whatever she says goes.

This quote shows the conflict between Grant and his aunt. They are having a disagreement about whether or not Grant should go to Henry Pichots house
